Littleton-Point (Softening Point)

It deals with a viscometric fixed point (value of temperature) at the viscosity η=107,65dPas.

The Littleton-Point describes the temperature when glass perceptibly begins to deform under one’s own weight. The measurement is performed on glass filaments with a set diameter of 0.65 mm that are pointedly heated up in a standardized stove. The velocity of extension can be interpreted.

(Samples: bar-shaped, length: 80-120 mm, thickness: 3-6 mm)
