In glasses the concentration of OH-groups presents in certain fields of application (f. ex. lamps) a crucial parameter. In case of high temperatures during the glass’ usage the OH-groups can be dissolved out by diffusion. The OH-groups can trigger off reactions with further components of the apparatus (f. ex. metal electrodes) influencing the gadget’s persistence.
The determination of the OH-concentration is performed by IR- spectroscopy with a wave length of 2800 nm. Two-sided polished and plane parallel sheets are used.
(Samples: plane parallel sheet, polished on both sides, 30×20 mm, thickness: 1-10 mm, tube section is possible)
