During this wet chemical procedure a mixture of the sample material and the catalyst is treated in steam saturated atmosphere at a temperature of around 1000 °C.
These conditions induce the extraction of fluorides that build up in an aqueous solution. The determination of the fluoride concentration in this solution is realized by an ion-sensitive electrode.
